Welcome

EFSMA, European Federation of Sports Medicine Associations, was founded in Portugal in 1998; during the years, has become a well-organized and structured international association, committed to the promotion and development of Sports Medicine in the whole Europe.

Its primary aim is the protection of athletes’ health, fighting at the same time against doping, arising from the conviction that sport expresses, maintains and improves not only physical fitness and performance, but even mental well-being, creating also social relationships and preventing different diseases.

35th FIMS World Congress of Sports Medicine and 30th Brazilian Congress of Sports and Exercise Medicine was held by FIMS - International Federation of Sports Medicine and SBMEE – Brazilian Society of Sports and Exercise Medicine from 12 to 15 September 2018 at the Windsor Barra Hotel - Rio de Janeiro – RJ, Brazil.

Responsibilities of sports medicine are increasing more and more in recreational and competitive sports and the FIMS World Congress has been the perfect occasion to share medical and scientific experiences at National and International level, exchanging updated scientific results in research, new advances in technologies and academic news.

The aim of the Congress is, moreover, renewing a common vision and debate on many important topics such as prevention and therapy of different diseases through the practice of physical activity, exercise and sports, the return to sport after injury, the fight against doping and many more.

The FIMS World Congress has been attended by delegates from the 119 FIMS member national associations, sports physicians, students and many invited speakers from all over the world.
