Welcome

EFSMA, European Federation of Sports Medicine Associations, was founded in Portugal in 1998; during the years, has become a well-organized and structured international association, committed to the promotion and development of Sports Medicine in the whole Europe.

Its primary aim is the protection of athletes’ health, fighting at the same time against doping, arising from the conviction that sport expresses, maintains and improves not only physical fitness and performance, but even mental well-being, creating also social relationships and preventing different diseases.

At Wroclaw, Poland

The 12th European Federation of Sports Medicine Associations Congress of Sports Medicine, titled "Sporty Life - Healthy Life", will take place in Wroclaw, Poland, from 19 to 21 October 2023 at the Centennial Hall.

For the first time, the EFSMA Congress will take place in Poland. Wroclaw is a beautiful, big city in the south-western Poland, with unique history and architecture. Over 700 guests are expected to participate from more than 40 countries. 

The main topics of the Congress will include: exercise for health, aging and sport, drugs, doping and antidoping, sudden cardiac death in sports athletes’ heart, injuries, sports in children and adolescents, relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S), digital wearables in sports medicine and sports, altitude training; rehabilitation to Paralympics, exercise and immune health, clinical and legal problems of Sports Medicine in Europe, and other topics.

The experts of sport medicine, internal medicine, exercise physiology, cardiology, orthopaedics, traumatology, medical rehabilitation and physiotherapy are invited to share the advances in the area. The Congress will be also open to geneticists, anti-doping specialists, nutritionists. In addition, we invited specialists in physical activity, sports for people with disabilities, physically active elderly people and people with metabolic diseases, as well as psychologists and other relevant stakeholders of the sports and physical activity sector.

We hope that the Congress will be a unique occasion to share current knowledge and ideas of modern Sports Medicine!
